A few weeks ago we held a powerlifting meet at George West High School. The meet was a great success. We had girls and boys lifters, coaches, parents, and fans from 16 different schools participate.
A full gym of onlookers witnessed a well-organized, well-run meet. We were fortunate to be able to complete the entire meet by 4 p.m. which is a feat in itself. A great deal of thanks goes out to Coach Lonnie Taylor and Coach Gerry Morgan, and the rest of the George West coaching staff for the outstanding job they did of organizing the meet.
A concession stand was provided by the George West booster club, headed up by GW Booster Club President Cathy White. The Booster Club, once again did an outstanding job of organizing and putting together concessions for the fans and meals for the participants. Their tireless effort has constantly made GW events the best they could possibly be for kids and the fans of George West I.S.D. I would like to thank the George West Booster Club for the effort it took to pull off yet another outstanding event.
Powerlifting meets cannot be run off successfully without outstanding volunteers running off each weight class at the tables. George West always seems to have people who are willing to come through for kids. This year is no different.
We appreciate the George West High School Cheerleaders and the George West National Honor Society who donated their time as table workers, and assisted with awards at the meet. Thank you.
Throughout the meet, we received an infinite number of compliments from visiting judges and coaches who felt like they had been given the “royal” treatment by the hospitality they had been provided for them. The hospitality room was organized by members of our booster club. Awesome job!
I cannot say enough about the generosity of the local George West businesses who provided the food that made the hospitality room so outstanding.
We are constantly amazed and impressed by the generosity of these George West businesses. Your open hearts make infinite things possible for the kids of George West. Please accept our sincere thanks for your gifts.
Sincerely,
Tim Holt,
Athletic Director
