Rabies vaccination clinic in George West

The City of George West, in conjunction with Veterinarian Lynn A. Bluhm, will set up a one-day rabies clinic on Saturday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the George West Fire Station located at 311 Bowie Street in George West.

There will be a $5 charge for the rabies vaccination shot. For dogs or cats kept inside city limits, there will be a $5 charge per dog or cat tag. For an additional fee, the following services are available:

Dogs — 6-way Combo $20; Roundworm/Hookworm treatment - $5, Tapeworm treatment - $15/25#

Cats — 4-way Combo - $20; Roundworm/Hookworm treatment - $5; Tapeworm treatment - $12/25#

All dogs within the city limits of George West should be vaccinated once a year and shall be kept in a fenced in area or on a leash or chain.

Any dogs running at large on public or private property within the City Limits will be picked up by the Animal Control Officer and transported to the City Animal Shelter.

If any owner wishes to reclaim their dog, they have 72 hours after such dog has been impounded lo show proof of rabies vaccination and pay a $25 initial fee and $5 per day thereafter for each dog impounded and are subject to a fine up to $200 for violation of City Ordinance #631, prohibiting dogs from running at large on public or private property.

If any owner wishes to reclaim their cat, they have 72 hours after such cat has been impounded to show proof of rabies vaccination and pay a $25 initial fee and $5 per day thereafter for each cat impounded.

Pet owners should take advantage of this special one-day offer and have their pets vaccinated against rabies.
