The last day to file to run for a position on the ballot in the May 8 local elections was Monday, March 8. Candidates have until Monday, March 15 to file to run as a write-in.

Refugio

Council places three, four, and five are up for election.

Incumbents are Ron Nelson, Frank Hosey and Wanda Dukes.

Ron Nelson has filed for place three; Frank Hosey and William H. “Bill” Rayburn, place four; and Wanda H. Dukes and Ruben Garcia, place five.

Woodsboro

Council places three, four, and five are up for election.

Incumbents are Minerva Cisneros, Jeanette Chandler, and Jimmy Blashcke.

Minerva Cisneros and Carl Arnold for place three; Jeanette Chandler, Fred Carr, and Elix Ortiz have filed for place four; Jimmy Blashcke, place five.

Bayside

Mayor and council places two and three are up for election.

Incumbents are Mayor Billy P. Fricks, David Vega and Sharon Scott.

Billy P. Fricks and Ken Dahl have filed to run for mayor; Robert Moreno, place 2; Sharon Scott and Janet Christensen for place three.

Incumbent David Vega has not filed.

Austwell

Mayor, and mayor pro-tem, are up for election. Incumbents are Mustafa Curtess and J.R. Palmer.

RISD

Single-member districts one, three, and five, which are three-year terms are up for election.

Incumbents are Eugene Lewis, Jorge Jaso and Ronald Williams.

Eugene Lewis has filed for SMD #1; Jorge Jaso, for SMD #3; and Ronald Williams, for SMD #3.

All three board members reside in the single-member districts they represent.

The deadline for declaration of write-in candidacy is 5 p.m., Monday, March 15. Application packets are available in the superintendent’s office.

On Election Day, the polling place will be the St. James CCD Center for SMD’s #1 and #3, and the Refugio Community Center for SMD #5.

Early voting will be held in the office of the County Elections Administrator.

The first day for early voting is Monday, April 26, and the last day is Tuesday, May 4.

WISD

Woodsboro Independent School District places six and seven on the board of trustees are up for election.

Incumbents are Bob Kramer and Marina Garcia.

Bob Kramer and Thomas Moses havefiled to run for place six. Jessica Blashcke and Isaac Jaramillo for place seven.

Marina Garcia has not filed.

A-TISD

Austwell-Tivoli Independent School District Board of Trustees place three, four, and five are up for election.

Incumbents are Darren Kelso, Elia Bernal and Greg Duenez.

Darren Kelso has filed for place three; Josephine Farias, place four; and Greg Duenez, place five.

Bernal did not file.

Refugio Hospital District

Places one, two, three and four are up for election.

The incumbents that have filed are Art Loya, Cliffon Pfeil, Glen Naylor, and Sandy Ermis.

Marjorie Shaw and Art Loya have filed for place 1; Clifton Pfeil, place 2; Glen Naylor, place3; and Sandy Ermis, place 4.

Refugio County Water Control & Improvement District No. 1

Incumbents directors are Carol C. Edge, Jaime Gonzales, Richard Sessions, Arthur Summers Jr. and Lavenia Diaz.

Carol C. Edge and Jaime Gonzales both have filed.

Refugio County Water Control & Improvement District No. 2

Three director positions are up for election.

Incumbents are Gerald Morgan, secretary; O.G. Randle, vice-president; and Richard W. Piwetz, director.
