Genaro Trevino will be making his second trip while Lazaro Smith will be a first-timer at the state event.
Trevino competed last year at 148 pounds but has gained muscle poundage and now competes at 181 pounds. His three best lifts include a 545-pound squat, a 355-pound bench press and a dead lift of 460. Trevino’s qualifying total was an impressive 1,350 pounds and seeds him second in Region IV heading into the state competition.
Smith competes at the 198-pound class and has a qualifying three-lift total of 1,435 pounds. He has a 595-pound squat, a 315-pound bench press and a dead lift of 460 as his personal bests.
“We’re excited about going and hope to break our personal bests at the meet,” both lifters answered together when asked about making the trip to compete against the state’s best.
