Both $15,000 scholarship recipients, Jacob Moran and Krissy Arnst, are seniors from Three Rivers High School.
Rip Wallace, Life-time Area Go-Texan Committee member addressed the gathering made up of scholarship recipients, their parents, sponsors and supporters. Normally, only one $15,000 scholarship is awarded per county; however, this year Three Rivers high school had a “student whose academic achievement exceeded all other applicants from the six county district which includes Bee, Goliad, Live Oak, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio Counties,” Wallace stated.
Wallace continued by saying, “Live Oak County youth have been awarded twice as much as the other counties in our Go Texan District. Locally, we have awarded $129,500 to our students over the last 13 years, and tonight we are going to add to those figures.”
In addition to Wallace, other members of the committee were named. Wallace began with, Committee ambassador Scot Deason. Others from the committee introduced that evening include: Linda Sue Barnes, Endercio Chapa, Donna Wallace, Sammie Kohlman and 13 others.
Students from George West and Three Rivers earning the $1,000 scholarships include: Frank Alvarez, Kelley Barker, Caitlin Curbello, Rachel Dobie, Candace Gonzales, Macey Gutierrez, Matthew Hancock, Cami Hunter, Whitley James, Alyssa Johnston, Alexandria Katzfey, Kayla Krietsch, D’Ann Lane, Robert Martinez, Norma Raquel Mendez, Crystal Poenisch, Sara Reagan, Jane Riser, Sara Roach, Lukas Sehlke, Hillary Sellman, Nicole Shannon, Jonathan Sulaica, Kimberly Villafranca, Jayme Warren, Jeffrey Whitney and Elizabeth Wright.
Wallace closed by saying, “We wish to thank our sponsors, contestants and the many other people who have assisted us in helping us raise scholarship money. Also, if anyone would like to be on our mailing list or be a donor for next year please let us know.”
