The Trojan and Lady Trojan soccer teams were rewarded for their fine seasons by District 57-4A coaches when they passed out the postseason district accolades.

The Trojans finished second in district play at 7-3, just one game out of first place. The coaches named Beeville’s Jose Amador as the District MVP. The sophomore far outdistanced everyone else in the goal scoring race. Multiple goal games were commonplace for the speedy Trojan forward.

Trojans garnering second-team honors included midfielders Jair De La Garza and Frank Gutierrez along with defender Bryan Elliott.

Honorable mention status went to Trojans Zach Johnson, Roland Salazar, Lonnie Jordan, Peyton Tabb, Aaron Castillo and Chet Sparks.

The Lady Trojans won their second consecutive District 57-4A championship this year and went undefeated during the regular season. Their record of 20-1-3 is the best in school history.

Freshman Heather McKinney was selected as the district Co-Offensive MVP along with Pleasanton’s Jacquelyn Olle. Natalie Elder was chosen as Co-District MVP with Southside’s Xochitl Rodriguez.

Defender Carissa Elizalde was chosen to the district’s first team along with forward Morgan McKinney.

The district’s second team had Jones High defender Victoria Elizalde on its roster.
