“The girls are playing well defensively. We are getting better with every game we play,” said Lady Trojan head coach Greg Gonzales.
“I was pleased with their effort.”
It was inside/outside for the Lady Trojans. Post Erin Tabb had her way in the lane and down deep for the Lady Trojans. Tabb hit a game-high 21 points to lead the Beeville scoring.
If Tabb wasn’t open or the Kingsville defense collapsed around her, the Lady Trojans guards fired away from the outside. Brandy Perez hit for three baskets from beyond the arc to total nine points in the win. Cassandra Vela got most of her 12 points from the outside or from short jumpers from the elbow. Melanie Chargualaf also hit for nine points in the midday tilt, including one long-range jumper for a trey. Point guard Hillary Hennig provided eight points while directing the Lady Trojan offense. Shanise Wilson added three points in the win, coming off the bench to spell Tabb in the second half.
The Lady Trojans traveled to Ingleside on Tuesday night to meet the Lady Mustangs. The Beeville girls will be back on their own floor at the Marion B. Horton Gymnasium on Saturday morning to meet the Floresville Jaguars. The freshman tilt will begin at 10 a.m. with the JV contest scheduled for 11 a.m. The varsity girls will take the floor for an approximate tip-off at 12:30 p.m.
Next week’s schedule has the Lady Trojans playing back-to-back on Monday and Tuesday due to the Thanksgiving break. On Monday, Nov. 24, the Beeville girls will host Victoria with the sub-varsity games getting under way at 5 p.m. (utilizing both gyms) and the varsity tilt tipping off at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday’s games will be in Sinton against the Lady Pirates. The freshman game will begin at 5 p.m. with the JV contest at 6:15 and the varsity tilt is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
