The tie leaves the Lady Trojan JV at 13-5-2 on the season and 7-1-2 in district play.
“In a game in which time is a key factor, not being able to score in the first two innings really put us at a disadvantage,” said JV coach Ophelia De Los Santos.
“However, the ladies rallied in the third inning to tie up the game, making for an enticing match-up.”
The home team scored one run in the first and added three in the second inning to take an early 4-0 lead over the Beeville girls.
The time limit was fast approaching and the Lady Trojans had to make something happen quickly to get back in the game.
Selyna Guerra and Alexis Pelitire knocked in a run apiece in the Lady Trojans’ top of the third. Two more runs came across that were unearned but still counted for the Beeville girls before the third out could be made by the Sandies.
Adrianna Baltazar, Pelitire, Amanda Gonzales and Theresa Amador scored for the Lady Trojans. Pelitire ended the night with two hits. Amador and Guerra also had base knocks for the Beeville girls.
Amador went all three innings in the circle for the Lady Trojans, striking out four in her three-inning stint. She shut out the Sandies in the bottom of the third to preserve the tie.
“With a week left in the season, the ladies are continuing to improve and are anticipating their last two games,” De Los Santos said.
