JHS summer camps provide fun and sports

The A.C. Jones High School summer schedule for camps, clinics and fun is set and begins in most cases on June 1.

Below is a listing of activities available to keep the student/athletes active and in shape this summer.

Beeville Athletic Club

Structured workout involving strength and conditioning. Primary focus is on proper technique and explosive lifts to develop the athlete. From June 1- July 16, Monday- Thursday. Times yet to be determined.

Summer Track

From June 1-26 at the high school stadium. Registration does not include an AAU card. Practice times are not yet determined.

Soccer Camp

Have fun while learning and improving fundamentals of soccer. Four days of instruction, drills and games offered by Lady Trojan coach Johnny Gonzales and staff from June 1-4.

Grades K through entering ninth are eligible to attend. Runs from 8-11 a.m. each day at the high school practice field.

Cheer Camp

For grades K-eighth beginning June 1 and ending June 4 from 1 a.m. to noon in the old gym at the high school. Cost is $40.

Basketball Camp

Have fun while learning and improving in the fundamentals of basketball. Four days of instruction, drills and games from Trojan head coach Abel Barrera and staff. Begins May 31 and runs through June 3. Grades 6-9 will be from 9-11 a.m. while grades 3-5 will meet at 1-3 p.m. Both camps will be held in the new gym.

Volleyball Camp

Have fun while learning and improving the fundamental skills of volleyball. Four days of instruction from the JHS staff of coaches.

Players eligible include those in grades 6-9. They will meet on July 26-29 from 8 a.m. to noon in the new gym.

Football Camp

Athletes will develop individual football skills. Maximum participation in drills, mini-games, activities and competitions to refine skills and improve personal bests will be emphasized. Troy Moses and staff will conduct the camp.

For grades 6-9 from July 26-29 beginning at 8 a.m. until noon each day. Players are to meet at the high school field house.

Tennis Camp

The camp will emphasize fun and fundamentals to help improve in tennis. Four days of instruction from Trojan coach John Kidd and staff from July 26-29 from 9-11 a.m. at the high school tennis courts.

Gym and Weight Room

Open Monday through Thursday from 5-8 p.m.

All camps fees are $25 per child unless otherwise noted.

Some camp times may change prior to the camp starting date. Check with the JHS Athletic Department for updated information.

All activities will be supervised by BISD Athletic Staff. The department can be reached at 362-6058 for any additional information or for questions.
