She was born July 31, 1926, in Beeville to Pedro Garcia and Margarita (Cantu) Garcia. She was currently residing in Houston and was a longtime Beeville resident.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Margarita Garcia; her husband, Rosendo Castilla Sr.; and a son, Rosendo Castilla Jr; a grandson, Robert Castilla Jr.; and a sister, Estella Salazar.
Survivors include two sons, Robert G. Castilla and Ray G. Castilla; three daughters, Mary Jane Fernandez, Gloria Castilla and Melba Castilla; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two half-brothers, Ernest Garcia and Richard Garcia.
Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, at Treviño Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there at 7 o’clock that evening.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers included her grandsons and great-grandsons.
