Maria Garcia Soliz, 72, died on May 27, 2010, in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Soliz was born on Aug. 29, 1937, in Beeville to Alfredo and Rosa (Paiz) Garcia. She was a housekeeper.

Survivors include two sons, Joe (Ruby) Soliz Jr. and Manuel (Jo Anna) Soliz, both of Beeville; one daughter, Delia Garcia of Pettus; an aunt, Lillie Garcia of Beeville; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jose M. Soliz Sr. on October 31, 1997; and one daughter, Martha Soliz on April 30, 2010.

A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Treviño Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.

Pallbearers were Gabriel Soliz, Robert Soliz, Gilbert Guartuche, Chris Salazar, Manuel Soliz Jr., and Robert De Leon. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Richard Soliz, Joseph Robert Soliz, Andrew Soliz, Clarissa Soliz, Sonya Zertuche and Damien Garza.
