Moreno Middle School received a gold performance award for commended performance in reading/ELA. Thomas Jefferson Elementary School received gold performance awards in comparable improvement in math, commended performance in reading, math and science.
To receive the award for recommended high school program, a high school must have more than 80 percent or more of its graduates graduated under the recommended high school program, which is a more rigorous academic graduation program.
A.C. Jones has 89.8 percent of its students in 2007 graduate under this program. To receive a comparable improvement award, the school must be in the top quartile (top 25 percent) of schools in its comparison group for the particular subject.
To receive a commended performance award, the school must have 25 percent of more of its students receiving commended performance on the TAKS test. Moreno Middle School had 38 percent of all students in 2008 receiving the commended performance achievement.
