Many Bee County restaurant patrons have been wondering about the sudden disappearance of The Cistern Restaurant from their dining options.

The upscale American restaurant on U.S. Highway 181 Business north of Beeville had been open for just over one year and was unique among area eateries.

The establishment closed last week because of financial difficulties. The owners, Joe and Jean Pritchett, have been working to clean out the building.

“We’re just sick about it,” said Jean Pritchett. “We have no malice. We’re just trying to clean it up and get everyone paid.”

The Pritchetts currently have no plans to open another restaurant in Beeville.

Margaret Tindol, the manager and part owner of the business, did not wish to comment.
