In memory of Ubaldo (Blackie) Adamez, the first annual “Field of Dreams” Mijo and Mija Memorial Scholarship golf tournament will be held on Aug. 21 at Beeville’s John C. Beasley Golf Course.

Proceeds for the tournament will help fund scholarships for area student/athletes.

The tournament format will be a four-man scramble and will use the Fisher Factor System for the handicaps.

An 8:30 a.m. shotgun start will get things rolling and entrants are urged to bring their own teams of four.

The entry fee is $70 per player or $280 per team. Fee includes the green fees, cart, range balls, goody bag and lunch of a BBQ sandwich with chips.

Prizes will be awarded to the top four finishing team. First prize will be $1,200, second place is $600, third place is $400 and fourth will be $200. Prizes are based on a full field of 18 teams and the tournament is limited to the first 18 teams to register.

Prizes also will be awarded for contests within the tournament for the longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putts on selected holes.

Mulligans will be $20 per team (one per player). A “Tiger” drive will be allowed on hole No. 7 for $20 per team. A seven-foot birdie putt is available for $20 per team on holes 5 and 14.

For more information and to register to play, contact the pro shop at the course at 358-7818 or call Bebe Adamez at 361-319-8500.
