Frances Romero Guajardo, 72, of Mineral, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010. She was deeply involved in Christian ministry, specifically Baptist Church work for more than 52 years.

She served as a pastor’s wife and was involved in Home Missions with the Southern Baptist Conven-tion for 34 years. She was employed for 12 years with Lifeway Christian Resources and was a editor of Sunday School materials for Spanish speaking children with the Baptist Sunday School Board. She was a consultant with Texas Partnerships for the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Alcides Guajardo of Mineral; three daughters, Orpha Garcia of Corpus Christi, Ruth Brewer and her husband Jeff of Mineral, and Naomi Galvan and her husband Eloy of Beeville; four sisters, Mary R. Burgos of Beeville, Pauline R. Gonzales of Corpus Christi, Anita R. Loa of Waco and Esther R. Watson of Corpus Christi; four brothers, Macario G. Romero of Petronila, Ricardo G. Romero of Mineral, Catarino Romero Jr. of Stafford and Ramiro G. Romero of Corpus Christi; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Isaac Romero of Mineral and Zaragosa Romero of Corpus Christi; and her mother and father, Margarita and Catarino Noyola Romero of Mineral.

A memorial service will be held Friday evening, August 6th at First Baptist Church of Beeville. Visitation will be held at First Baptist from 5 p.m. until the service begins at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Leonardo Cantu of Emmanuel Iglesia Bautista of Pawnee and Rev. Gregorio Gomez of San Antonio will be ministering. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Beeville on Saturday afternoon, August 7th at 2 o’clock, followed be an internment service at Mineral Cemetery. Rev. Josh Guajardo, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Katy, will be ministering.

Anita and family...I was saddened to hear of your dear sister Frances passing away. I'm sure it's of some comfort to know that she's no longer suffering, and that your parents, Isaac, and Zaragosa have welcomed with her with open arms into the house of our Lord. Please know that others share in your sorrow, and are thinking and praying for you and your families.
