Bellows makes speech contest semifinals at Brandeis HS

Three Rivers High School senior Bradley Bellows placed second in preliminaries in domestic extemporaneous speaking and broke to the semifinals at the Texas Forensics Association (TFA) qualifying meet held at Brandeis High School in San Antonio on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Also competing in domestic extemp were Josh Gutierrez and Chris Duenes.

Competing in foreign extemp were Maegan Haag, Lindsey Zamzow and Lindsey Weber. In Lincoln-Douglas debate, Gutierrez and Zamzow each posted two wins and one loss.

In public forum debate, the team of Bellows and Caitlyn O’Neil went 2-1 on the day, and the team of Zamzow and Haag went 1-2 on the day.

Competing in Student Congress were speech team members Jordan Kasper-Hines, Tessa Gregory, Mikaila Rushing and Gage Saenz. This was the first speech tournament of the year for the squad, who will next compete at the La Vernia TFA qualifying meet on Saturday, Sept. 18.

The team is coached by TRISD Superintendent Kenneth Rohrbach and were accompanied by Mrs. Belinda Kopplin.
