The Little Acorn Study Club met in Zamzow’s Deli, Three Rivers, TX on Dec. 9, 2010 at 6 p.m.

We had 13 members and six guests (husbands and speaker) present. President Norma Newport opened our meeting then turned our meeting over to Program Director Mrs. Donna Courtney. Mrs. Courtney introduced our guest speaker Pastor Harry West.

President Norma Newport thanked the Zamzow’s for the use of their deli and to host our Christmas Party.

Pastor Harry West was born and raised in Kentucky. As a young man he joined the United States Air Force and served 26 years before retiring.

In June, 1986, he entered the ministry and has been a pastor of churches in Leakey, Stockdale and Three Rivers; He has served a pastor of First United Methodist Church in Three Rivers, since 2005.

Pastor West graduated from Hawaii Pacific University while he was a sergeant in the Air Force. He attended seminary school in the Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, Texas.

Pastor West has two children and four grandchildren. His daughter, Paula lives in San Antonio and his son Paul lives in Trenton, Illinois. In his spare time, Pastor Harry enjoys doing crossword puzzles and drawing. He is a member of the Three Rivers Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge.

Pastor West blessed our meal and after the meal, he told and read the Christmas Story. He emphasized the importance of keeping Christ alive and to tell everyone that “Christ is the real reason for the Christmas Season!”

Our hostesses were Susan Zamzow, Rosie Forehand and Donna Courtney. They served a delicious ham and the Club members supply the side dishes and desserts.
