Whereas, Lillie Mae graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1950, being valedictorian of her class; and
Whereas, Lillie Mae is a lifetime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and has been actively involved serving on various committees and various church functions; and
Whereas, she was employed by First State Bank on Jan. 21, 1951, beginning in the bookkeeping department and then promoted to cashier. January 15, 1969, she became vice president/cashier. In January 1987, she became the executive vice president and then served as president. She was elected to the Board of Directors of First State Bank in 1990; and
Whereas, Lillie Mae is a member of the Three Rivers Garden Club, the Little Acorn Study Club, the Ray Point Community Center and currently serves on the Community Relations Board of the Federal Prison System, the Live Oak County EMS Board and the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce; and
Whereas, Lillie Mae received the Texas Bankers’ Association 50-Year Banker Award in 2001; the 2001 Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce Civic Leader of the Year; the 2007 Three Rivers Lion’s Club Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award; and
Whereas, Lillie Mae is actively involved in the Three Rivers community and supports the American Cancer Society, the Live Oak County Fair, the Live Oak County 4-H Program, the annual Salsa Fest, Outreach Food Distribution and various school activities.
Now therefore, be it resolved by the mayor of the City of Three Rivers that Jan. 21, 2011 be declared Lillie Mae Wieding Day.
