Quin Otis Walters, 67, entered into his heavenly home peacefully Wednesday, January 7, 2009. He was surrounded by his wife, family and pastor.

He was born to Otis and Bernice Walters on April 13, 1941, in Goliad County, Texas. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Mathis and Mathis Masonic Lodge No. 1133. He was the Maintenance Supervisor for the Mathis Independent School District for 28 years, a Mathis Police Deputy, and a member of the Mathis Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Fay (Metting) Walters of Mathis; two daughters, Michele (Kenney) McGee of Mathis and Julie (Danny) Nelson of Goliad, Texas; one son, Steve (Joy) Walters of George West, Texas; one brother, Willis Don Walters of Yorktown, Texas; and four grandchildren, Ashley McGee, Brandon Nelson, Joshua Walters and Zachary Nelson. He was also survived by his once daughter-in-law, Lorie Walters of Mathis and also by his precious faithful companion, Princess.

He was preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, and his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Metting.

Visitation began on Friday, January 9, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with the family present between 6-8 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Cenizo HIll Cemetery in Mathis.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Grace Lutheran Church of Mathis.
