The last weekend is that of Jan. 17. Because the season’s close is so near, Contest Director Richard Galloway encourages everyone to register in person.
Entrants must register ahead of time—before killing the buck—then take the buck to Brush Country Taxidermy for check-in and scoring. Brush Country Taxidermy is conveniently located at the corner of Hwy. 59 and Hwy. 281 in George West.
Brush Country Big Buck Contest is unique in that it has categories for both high fence and low fence properties in each of the seventeen categories including three in archery. The gun categories range from best overall to youth best spike—and nine categories in between. Brush Country Big Buck Contest also has four specialty categories: widest spread, longest spike, most points, and the unique parent & child, combining a parent’s buck score with that of his/her child’s buck’s score. Definitely something for everyone.
Check the website for category entry status where photographs show the current leaders. However, many categories have had no entries checked in to date.
Visit the contest website at www.brushcountrybigbuck.com for rules and regulations for the contest, as well as category status. Don’t hesitate any longer. Register today and go shoot that winner!
