TR JV boys open district with a win

Three Rivers freshman Gage Crawford poured in 17 points and had three steals in the JV Bulldogs 32-20 win over the Dilley Wolves last Friday.

On Friday Jan. 2, the TR JV basketball team opened up district with a win versus the Dilley Wolves.

The bulldogs were led by Gage Crawford who poured in 17 points and had seven steals, and Jonathan Lopez who had seven points along with four rebounds. The final score was 32-30 as the bulldog defense held off the wolves in the fourth quarter with a steal by Crawford to seal the game.

On Saturday Jan. 3, the bulldogs hosted the Three Rivers JV Tournament. Three Rivers opened up the tournament against the Jourdanton Indians and came up short.

Leading scorers for the game were Gage Crawford, Ryan Saenz, and Garret Wieding each with seven points. Next for the Bulldogs was a victory over the George West Longhorns 40-30. The full court pressure and ball movement of the Bulldogs proved to be too much as they led the entire game. Scorers for the Bulldogs: Larry Hatten and R. Saenz with nine points each, Patrick Eaves with eight points, G. Wieding with four points, J. Lopez with six points, and Josh Rodriguez with three points.
