The McMullen County Cowgirls kept their perfect district record intact (6-0) securing a big road win at Agua Dulce this past Tuesday.

The Cowgirls defeated the Lady Horns in three games- 25-23, 25-22, and 25-15. The Cowgirls were very focused and started the match out on the right foot with a big win in game one.

Agua Dulce was setting in second place in district coming into this game so they were also very focused as well and put up a good battle trying to give us our first district loss.

Game two was pretty much the same way as game one. Neither team could pull away from each other but we got some timely serves which helped us pull away.

Game three was pretty much all Cowgirls as we jumped on the Lady Horns quickly and never let them in the game.

Mamie Shelton had a big night spiking as she had eight kills followed by Destinee Thomas with two. Hailey Ruiz had two aces and Allison Donnell contributed one as well throughout the match. Shelton also had a big night blocking at the net getting three blocks while Thomas had one.

In the assists department Myranda Ruiz lead with 14 followed by Jasmyn Smith with seven. The next game will be with CCCP out of Corpus Christi.

The junior high Cowgirls also stayed perfect on the year as they downed Pawnee this past Monday. The Cowgirls won in two games. Once again, serving was the key to the win. Several Cowgirls had big serves all night which gave the Redwings some trouble. Great job ladies, keep up the good work.
