On Tuesday, Oct. 25, the George West Lady Horns traveled to Karnes City for their last district game hoping to wind things up with a win.

The Lady Horns played right along with the Lady Badgers in game one winning 29-27 before falling in the next three games (14-25, 17-25, 15-25).

The Lady Horns played a strong defensive match with 91 digs. Leading was Marley Snider with 17, Kelsi Bartlett and Rylie Shannon with 16 each, Mary Cansino with 14, Kaylee Brysch with 14 and Caysi Holt with 12. Snider and Brysch each had a single block. Snider and Bartlett each assisted a block. Cansino, Brysch, Bartlett, and Shannon each had an ace. Bartlett led with 13 kills, followed by Shannon with six and Snider with three. Cansino had 18 set assists and Holt had four. With this loss to Karnes City the two teams were now tied in the district for second place as George West had won over Karnes City earlier on Sept. 30. A tie breaking game was set for Friday.

On Friday the Lady Horns met up with Karnes City in Three Rivers to decide the winner of the second place of the district behind Poth.

The Lady Horns came to play hard and socked away 51 team kills in their determination to win. Karnes City played right with the Lady Horns. The score was often tied or only a difference of one as each team scored back and forth in their hard fought match. The Lady Horns proved to have the upper hand and won (25-22, 20-25, 27-25, 26-24).

Leading with an amazing 22 kills was Kelsi Bartlett, followed by Marley Snider and Rylie Shannon with eight a piece. Kaylee Brysch had seven, and Mary Cansino, and Caysi Holt had three each. Snider had 3 aces, Shannon two, and Bartlett one. Cansino had 43 set assists. Shannon led with 15 digs, Snider and Bartlett with 14 a piece. Brysch had 13 and Holt had 12.

Blocking for the Lady Horns were Brysch with two singles and an assist. Snider had a single and an assist. Cansino and Bartlett each had an assist. This victory put George West in second place and on to bi-district play with a match scheduled for last night with Luling.
