Vencen “Dale” Phelps, 82, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 in a local nursing home following an extended illness.

He was born to Lyle and Carla (Johnson) Phelps on Dec. 28, 1928 in Bottineau, North Dakota. He was a driller in the oilfield industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Vicki Blackman.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Phelps of George West; a son, Russell (Barbara) Phelps of Midvale, Utah; a daughter, Cheryl Linney of George West; a sister, Juanita Goodman of Burlington, Washington; six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 5-8 p.m., at Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers.

Funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in George West, with Brother Bruce Irving officiating service.

Burial will follow at the George West Cemetery, in George West.

Services entrusted to Roberson Funeral Home, Three Rivers.
