After playing three games and competing in the Beeville JV Tournament the young Lady Bulldogs are off to a good start.

They opened their season with Poteet where they came out on top 34 to 19. Utilizing a trap and capitalizing on turnovers by the Agates, the ladies compiled points in the second and fourth quarters.

Scoring that night for the dogs were: Trina Guzman with two, Anissa Alvarez and Stephanie Rodriguez with three, Amanda Geffert tossed in five, while Brittany Clifton and Kelsey Hicks each added six. Johni Escamilla led the night with eight points.

After along break from the court, the Lady Bulldogs hosted Mathis where once again the defense created turnovers which were converted to a few quick buckets. The ladies prevailed in a 25 to 18 victory. Finding the bucket were Rodriguez with one, Alvarez, Vanessa Stewart, Geffert, and Escamilla with two. Kelcee Hillis tossed in four points while the scoring was led by Hicks and Clifton with six each.

After two games under their belts the Lady Bulldogs attended a 14 team Beeville JV Tournament where they finish in the middle of the pack after games with Beeville JV, West Oso JV, Aransas Pass, and Beeville Freshmen. Although the Dogs had their share of hard knocks and rough games they out scored their opponents twice by over 40 points. Contributing to the tournament were Alvarez, Bianca Saenz, Rodriguez, Stewart, Hillis, Geffert, Hicks, Guzman, Escamilla, and Clifton.

Last Tuesday night the JV Lady Bulldogs hosted Bloomington and came up short on the scoreboard. The ladies fought hard to come back in range in the third after regrouping at halftime, but the charge was countered by a quick Bloomington squad. Scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Alvarez and Geffert with two each, followed by Stewart with three, and Escamilla with six. Leading the night was Kelsey Hicks with 12 points on the evening.

As the ladies hit practice they are preparing for the start of district play next week. They will be opening district in Karnes City on Tuesday and come home to defend their home court against Natalia on Dec. 16th.
