The Longhorns had a break-even week last week as they dropped a district game to Karnes City on Tuesday by the score of 68-56, but rebounded with a resounding win over Three Rivers on Friday, 71-33.

At Karnes City, the Longhorns were up by two at the half but were unable to hang on largely because of 29 turnovers and missed free throws. The Longhorns were led by Colton Guerrero who had 16 points and Derek Cantu who tallied 11 points. Joseph Feist added seven points, followed by Seth Pipkin with six, Andrew Katzfey with five, Alex Combs and Kendall Hensley both had four, and Justin Bray had three points.

On Friday, the Three Rivers Bulldogs came to George West with bad intentions but were quickly cooled down by Guerreros’ four, first quarter, three-point shots. He would go on to finish ahead of all scorers with 34 points on eight three-point goals. Cantu added eight points., Josey Blevens, Bray and Combs each contributed six points. Hensley and Feist each had five points respectfully, and Pipkin chipped in two points.

The Longhorns now have a 15-6 record for the season and a 2-1 record in district play. George West will travel to Natalia on Tuesday and finish the week at home against Cotulla.
