Three Rivers 7th-, 8th-graders playing

The Three Rivers eighth grade team started off the new year with a road victory over the Dilley Wolves last Thurs., 34-26. The Bulldogs were behind 14-18 at the half as Dilley had a 6-0 run to end the second quarter. Levi Fulcher led the Bulldogs with 22 points and 12 rebounds in his first game of the season and other Bulldogs scoring were Paul Almandarez, who saw his first game of the season, with nine points, Ivan Rodriguez with two points and Ryan Retzloff with one point . Three Rivers used a relentless defense in the third quarter to out score the Wolves 10-2. Almandarez had four steals in the third quarter before fouling out in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs were four for five from the free throw line during the third quarter also. Defensively all of the Bulldogs played outstanding but standouts were Adam Valdez, who had four steals and five rebounds, Fidel Luna with three steals , and Tony Hinojosa with three rebounds. The Bulldogs are 2-3 on the year and look to even up their record on the road against Cotulla this Thursday before hosting the Annual Bulldog Junior High Tournament on Sat., Jan. 14. The eighth grade boys and girls will play at the Student Activity Center and the seventh grade boys and girls teams will play in the old High School gym.
