10th Salsa Fest schedules red-hot entertainment

The 10th annual Salsa Festival will be held in downtown Three Rivers (on the city square) on Saturday, April 4, beginning at 10 a.m.

Entertainment on the country and western stage will begin at 10:30 a.m., with Chris Rybak Show. The Brush Country Music Jamboree band will take stage around 11:30 a.m. The band will consist of Joe Nixon, Randy Elmore and Ricky Turpin on fiddles; James Skidmore on drums; Peter Kane on keyboard and accordian; George Norris on rhythm guitar; Larry Sellers on base guitar; Eddie Maxwell on lead guitar; and Gary Hunt on steel guitar. Bill Dragoo will emcee. Lothell Dubose and Adele Neill will provide the back-up singing.

Guest performers will be Ribbon Cane Bluegrass group of Beeville; Allison Crowson (Collins) of Brenham; yodeling champion Ken Brothers of West Point; Tom Teboe of New Braunfels; Rob “Elvis” Carter of New Braunfels; comedienne Charlotte “Beulah Mae” Maples of Agua Dulce; Billy Mata of San Antonio; 10-year old Alli Cossetti of Refugio; and Raisin’ Kane (Tim and Peter Kane) of San Antonio.

The Tejano stage will kick off with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. Entertainers on this stage will be Nightlife; Ruben Salazar and Patron; Henry “Elvis” Vasquez; Marachi L (the Luevano family); and Grupo Fusion.

The entertainment will last until 8 p.m. There will be other activities, as usual. There is no admission charge to the event.
