Jose “Tito” Nieto, 84, of Floresville, formerly of George West, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.

Mr. Nieto was born June 30, 1927, in Floresville to Aurora (Zuniga) and Jose Nieto. He married Maria Isabel Lopez in Laredo on July 6, 1959, and was a construction worker by profession. He worked for Heldenfelds Construction for many years and was a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Aurora Nieto; his wife, Maria Isabel Nieto; a granddaughter, Ermalinda Perez; a sister, Julia Muñoz; a brother, Pablo Nieto; and a step-brother, Victor Cuevas.

Survivors include three daughters, Eladia (Alejandro) Lopez of George West, Lupita (Eliseo) Perez of Jourdanton and Alice (Saul) Lopez of Dallas; nine grandchildren, Brenda, Jessica, Ashley, Erica, Robin, Erika, Eliseo Jr., Ernest and Caleb; three great-granddaughters; a brother, Jesus Nieto of Cuero; and two sisters, Emma (Victor) Juarez and Dora (Fortunado) Meza, both of George West.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o’clock.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at St. George Catholic Church with Father George Johnson officiating. Burial followed in St. George Cemetery.
