TR’s Casarez wins State title for second year in a row

Michael Casarez, from Three Rivers High School, is the 2012 Division 3 State Powerlifting Champion in the 123.5 pound weight class.

Michael set a new State record with a 445 pound squat. His lifts were 445 Squat, 205 bench press, 425 deadlift for a 1075 lb. total.

He is a back to back State champion, having won last year as well, putting him in a rare group of only 76 lifters who have accomplished earning multiple state titles. An elite squatter and dead-lifter, he can squat and dead-lift over three times his body weight.

He competed in the Boys State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene on March 24.
