Beeville’s 4-H shooting club to host sixth annual fishing tournament at Choke Canyon

CHOKE CANYON – On Saturday, May 5, the Beeville Shooting Sports 4-H Club will hold its sixth annual bass fishing tournament at the Choke Canyon Calliham Unit.

Registration, check-in and live well check will begin at 6 a.m. or when park opens and will end at 9 a.m. Weigh-in begins at 2 p.m., and anglers must be in line by 3 p.m.

Cost for the tournament is $100 per team for pre-registration. Pre-registration will end on April 25. Late entry fee is $125 per team after April 28 and up until the day of the tournament. For those interested, there will also be an optional $10 fee per angler for the “big fish pot” that provides a 100 percent payback.

With each entry a meal is included. Prizes are first place, $2,000; second place, $1,000; third place, $500; fourth place, $250; and fifth place, $125. Prize payouts are based on minimum of 75 teams entered. If less than 75 teams are entered, there will be a 50-50 split between winning anglers and Beeville Shooting Sports 4-H Club.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Beeville Shooting Sports 4-H Club’s building fund to support the youth of Bee and surrounding counties and to further the cause of shooting sports and wildlife conservation in the State of Texas. There is no charge for club membership and support for the program is entirely from 4-H fund raising and with assistance from sponsors and donors.
