GW got off to a quick start before the Bulldogs would settle down. After one quarter of play, it was Longhorns 11, Bulldogs nine.
In the second, the Longhorns would stretch their lead to five going up at the half 22-17.
In the third, the Bulldogs got things going with several key stops and turned the game around with a three pointer by John Morgan Ross at the buzzer. The Dogs would take the lead going into the fourth up 37-27.
The Longhorn defense stepped up in the fourth and got them back in the game, but the Dogs free throw shooting down the stretch sealed the victory for the Bulldogs 50-45. Preston Pennington led all scorers with 18 points. Travis Escamilla added 10, Ross nine, Logan Muniz six, Garret Luthringer three, and Trevor Wells two.
Friday, the Bulldogs will host Cotulla. Game time will be 8 p.m. for both games.
