‘The proposed new elementary will allow us to have all of our classrooms under one roof and will bring us into compliance with state minimum classroom size requirements,’ said Superintendent Kenneth Rohrbach. ‘The existing elementary has served its purpose, but is costing the district a great deal of money to maintain. It is also very energy inefficient.’
The current debt service tax rate for TRISD is $0.16021 per $100 of appraised value. This is based on the current district property value of $686,000,000. It is projected that the appraised value of the district for the 2012-2013 school year will be approximately $1,120,000,000. If approved by voters, the estimated debt service tax rate for 2012-2013 will be $0.0954 per $100 of appraised value. That is a decrease of $0.0648. The rate would increase the next year, but will likely not exceed the current rate, due to the fact that the value of property in the district continues to rise because of the oil and gas wells that are being drilled.
