“I’m just excited for our kids,” said Superintendent Dave Underwood.
“I think our community committee did a terrific job. Finding out what the school needed was a community effort,” Underwood said.
After an assessment of school needs by Lamar, Womack and Associates, and meetings by the Community Facilities Committee, the school board voted to call the bond election on Feb. 29.
Election results were 147 votes for the bond and 44 against. There are 711 registered voters in McMullen County.
The bond will fund safety barriers and enhancements, move traffic flow off Highway 16, a maintenance and transportation facility, an ag education instructional facility, music and art program, inside lighting conversion, outdoor basketball court cover, school housing and school buses.
