The Lagarto Community Club started the new year out with a delicious luncheon and Mardi Gras theme and cake. The hostesses Lee Smith, Clara Sowersby and Kathleen Mahan did a great job decorating.

This month we had some special guest speakers. Ty Sparks, Superintendent of George West Schools, Robin Sellman, Director of Educational Services, and students Luke Sehlke and Hillary Sellman, juniors at George West High School. Mr. Sparks told of the community meetings to be held in Oakville in Jan. and Lagarto in March. He told of planned additions to the schools such as a track, field house, science labs, library and media center. Members asked questions and an interesting discussion was held. Luke Sehlke and Hillary Sellman gave an interesting talk about the history of George West. We appreciate the information that was shared.

As meeting business, we discussed the annual rummage sale the second Saturday in April. Chole Trevino encouraged everyone to clean out their closets and bring items for the sale. Vendors will be invited to join us. There will be a $20 charge for a table or space and an additional $10 charge if outside electricity is needed. So start planning to donate items or come to shop on April 11, from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Members and their spouses will enjoy a Valentine dinner on Feb. 13th. They will enjoy a delicious pasta dinner, music, a movie and games.

Our next meeting will be Feb. 12th. We would like to invite anyone interested in joining our group to attend.
