The George West Varsity boy’s basketball team traveled to Natalia to take on the first place Natalia Mustangs.

The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead. The halftime score was 43-24 in favor of the Mustangs.

Leading the Longhorns in scoring in the first half was Marcus Miller with eight points, Colton Tindol, seven; Travis Walker, six. Shannon Taylor and Kenneth Blevins each had five first half rebounds.

In the second half, the Longhorns came out and played excellent basketball. The Longhorns scored a season high 24 points in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Horns cut the Mustang lead to 74-62 with six minutes to go in the game. However, this would be as close as they would get to the Mustangs. The Longhorns fell 91-66 to the Mustangs.

The team never gave up and played their hearts out all the way to the finish. The Horns will host Cotulla at home on Friday, Feb. 6.

Game totals – Marcus Miller, 18 points; Colton Tindol, 17; Travis Walker, 10; Kenneth Blevins, nine; Lane Wallace, six; Brian Wyche, four; and Michael Blevins, two.
