GW varsity boys defeat Cowboys

The George West Varsity boys defeated the Cotulla Cowboys by a score of 56-51. The Cowboys jumped out to an early 9-0 lead. The Longhorns came back to cut the lead to 14-10 after the first quarter. Shannon Taylor led the Horns with eight first quarter points.

In the second quarter both teams traded basket for basket with the Cowboys clinging to a 26-24 lead at halftime. Lane Wallace chipped in six first half points. Kenneth Blevins and Travis Walker each had seven first half rebounds. Leading the way defensively in the first half was Colton Tindol, Michael Blevins, Brian Wyche and Donovan Grimes.

The second half was as exciting as the first half. Shannon Taylor was the leading scorer in the third period with eight points. Travis Walker had five third quarter points.

In the fourth quarter the Longhorns out scored the Cowboys 16-11. The final score George West 56-51. The following eight seniors played their last home game for the Longhorns. Marcus Miller, Travis Walker, Colton Tindol, Michael Blevins, Kenneth Blevins, Brian Wyche, Donavon Grimes, Lane Wallace.
