THREE RIVERS – The body of a man estimated to be in his 30s was discovered by an area resident Sunday evening across from Love’s on a county road and near the intersection of Interstate 37 and U.S. Highway 281.

Live Oak County Sheriff Larry Busby said the call came in at 8:59 p.m. about the body that was found in a crouched position.

He said the man is believed to be an illegal immigrant. Busby said no identification was found on the body except for socks in the man’s pockets.

“It looks like he was set there by the side of the road,” Busby said.

Busby said no foul play is suspected because there was no apparent trauma. He said the man could have died from the heat as he was being transported somewhere.

“I believe the body is about the third we’ve found this year,” Busby said.

He added that where the body was found is a route used frequently by illegal immigrants.

Justice of the Peace Virginia Tanguma did the inquest and ordered an autopsy.

Sheriff’s investigator Dan Caddell and deputies Joe Guerra and Cody Wheeler investigated at the scene.
