In order to accommodate the training, George West students will be released at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4 for an additional afternoon of staff training.
Mention achievement at school and everyone thinks of student grades and test scores. But student successes are possible only when many other things go right. Great learning can happen only in classrooms where trust and respect enable free, active participation; where discipline problems are not allowed to subvert teaching and learning; where enthusiastic teachers connect with students as partners in learning; where administrators fully support the efforts of teachers and students.
Flippen has worked with thousands of individuals, including educators, K-12 students, executives, and athletes such as football legend Terry Bradshaw, University of Texas quarterback, Colt McCoy, and pastor Joel Osteen’s team at Lakewood Church. Flippen’s presentation is sponsored by The Child Welfare Board and the GW Police Department.
The Flippen Group has produced the curriculum for the school district’s Teen Leadership courses and for the Capturing Kid’s Hearts training that the district teachers have participated in for many years.
Although this ‘early out’ day is not on the official school calendar, we ask that parents make childcare arrangements for their children for that afternoon.
Buses will run regular routes at the earlier time.
