Woman killed in 2-car accident

WHITSETT – A woman was killed in a two-car accident about 13 miles north of Three Rivers on Thursday, Sept. 13.

The woman’s name has not been released pending notification of her family.

At a little after 1 p.m., the woman was driving southbound on Interstate 37 when her Toyota Camry veered over into the center median where the car started spinning and ended up in the northbound lanes of I-37, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper Gabriel Llanas.

The Toyota was struck by a northbound vehicle – a Buick Enclave – driven by a couple in their 80s. The couple was transported by AirLife to University Hospital in San Antonio in serious but not critical condition.

In addition to DPS troopers, the Three Rivers Volunteer Fire Department, the Whitsett Volunteer Fire Department, Live Oak County Sheriff’s Office, Nueces County Sheriff’s Office and Acadian amubulance service responded to the accident.
