Family Career and Community Leaders of America held the Region V meeting of Texas in San Antonio on Feb. 19-21.

Three Rivers FCCLA Senior and Junior Chapters had twelve students attend the meeting. The advisors for the chapters are Mrs. Jacqueline Coquat and Mrs. Natalie Carroll.

After competing in STAR events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) during the day on Friday, members attended the opening session on Friday night. They were treated to an inspiring talk on digging into your backpack and using your talents and abilities by motivational speaker Kathryn Childers, creator of the HEB Snow Book of 2004.

The Senior Chapter had three teams participating in STAR events. Rachel Dockery and Shelly Smith placed third in Illustrated Talk with a topic called FCCLA Goes Green. Stephanie Saenz and Sidney Wood placed sixth in National Programs with a topic on recycling called Red, Hot, and Green. Klare Escamilla and Christen Lerma also participated in a patriotic themed presentation for Chapter Service Project Display but did not advance.

The Junior Chapter contestants were Darcy Orsak, Khiry Franke, and Taylor LaRose. These young ladies participated in the Chapter Service Project Display on the Junior level and placed first. Their project was on cell phone recycling.

The teams that placed first through sixth advance to the state meeting which will be held in Corpus Christ! on April 16-18.Also attending the meeting were Lea Luna, Rachel Dobie and Ellie Lara.

We would like to thank the community for their support of FCCLA and, if you see these young ladies, wish them luck at the state meeting.
