Junior Varsity Lady Bulldogs win close one

The Three Rivers Junior Varsity Softball squad took on 5A Victoria Memorial last Monday and came away victorious in a hard fought game.

Sarah Retzloff was the winning pitcher, only giving up 4 hits in the 7 inning game. Kourtney Salazar went 3-for-4 in the game with 1 run scored. Ashley Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs with a double to the fence.

The Lady Bulldogs were up 6-4 in the 6th inning with 2 outs when Victoria Memorial made a comeback to go up 8-6. In the bottom of the ining, Harli Benham game up with a game tieing triple to deep right center, scoring Salazar and Michelle Luna.

Chelsie Gloor went 2 - for -4 with a double. With the score tied 8 - 8 in the bottom of the 7th inning, Outfielder Lindsey Zamzow drove in Gutierrez and Retzloff for the game winning hit. Samantha Tadlock scored one run in the victory and played a great game behind the plate.

Other Lady Bulldogs contributing in the victory were Lisa Puerto and Laura Morin. The Junior Varsity will face Natalia on Friday for the first district contest of the season.
