Lady Horns travel to Austin for softball tournament

The George West Lady Horn Softball team had a great week of softball. The team won 6 games and lost 1 game. On Tuesday night the Lady Horns defeated a great team from Robstown by a score 5-0. Maggie Ham pitched a one-hitter and struck out 16 Lady Cotton Pickers. Savannah Franco, Megan Hardwick each had a doubles for the Lady Horns and each scored two runs. Kayla Krietsch had 3 RBI’s for the Lady Horns. It was a very well played game by both teams. The Lady Horns played great defense and got great pitching. Great job Lady Horns!!

The Lady Horns traveled to Austin ISD Tournament this past weekend. There were 16 teams from 3A & 4A teams at the Tournament. The Lady Horns won their pool going undefeated. They defeated Austin Lanier 11-0, Austin Eastside Memorial 13-0 and Blanco 4-1. In the championship bracket the Lady Horns defeated Florence 6-0, Caldwell 6-3 and lost in the championship game 9-4 to Princeton out of east Dallas. The Lady Horns played excellent softball against some top notch competition. The following Lady Horns had great offensive performances in the tournament: Megan Hardwick, Savannah Franco, Lacey Gee, Kayla Krietsch, Hannah Iley, Veronica Gutierrez, Maggie Ham, Kayla Wallek and Shawna Talley.

Excellent defense performances were turned in by Justine Troell, Savannah Franco, Kayla Krietsch, Lacey Gee, and Hannah Iley.
