The Miss Live Oak County Pageant will be held this Saturday, March 14. This year nine beautiful young ladies from our county will vie for the coveted title of Miss Live Oak County. The pageant is excited to have “Big Frank”, a DJ from K99 in Corpus Christi, as its Master of Ceremonies for the night.

Big Frank was born in San Antonio one month before Richard Nixon resigned as President of the United States. He was raised in the Free State of McMullen County in the metropolis of Tilden. “I laugh when people tell me they’re from a small town,” said Frank. “My hometown has 425 people in it and I graduated in a class of 13 students. It doesn’t get much smaller than that, and we didn’t have a Dairy Queen.”

He goes to Tilden to see his parents more frequently now that he has their granddaughter. Frank’s father, the “Real Big Frank,” is the superintendant of the McMullen County School District.

Frank attended Texas A&M-Kingsville (A&I) and graduated in 2000 with a B.S. in Agribusiness. “That is not a very common degree with radio folks,” says Frank. “A&I was great and I actually got my start at KTAI, the college radio station there.”

Big Frank has been getting paid to talk on the radio and play music since July, 1996 and has been with K-99 since Jan., 2000. He is on the air from 3-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and plays Texas music on Saturday nights from 8-10 p.m. And yes, he is the same Big Frank you hear each weekend on KJ-97 in San Antonio.

When he’s not playing DJ on the radio, Frank enjoys hunting, fishing, and just being outdoors. Frank is a Dallas Cowboys fan, loves NASCAR, and believes Spurs basketball is a way of life. He recently discovered a thing called a gym, but rarely goes. He is really good at playing tennis...on the Wii.

He is Christina’s husband and Leighann’s daddy.

Doors open at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday night with the pageant beginning at 6 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are available from any contestant for $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Tickets will be available at the door for $6 and $4 respectively. Programs will be available for purchase at the door for $2 each.

Please join us for a night of excitement and enchantment as we discover that fairy tales do come true!!
