Lady Horns improve record to 15-2

The George West Lady Horn Softball team completed non-district with an impressive 10-0 win over Corpus Christi John Paul II.

Maggie Ham and Tiffany Garza combined for the pitching shutout. Maggie Ham improved her pitching record to 13-1 of the season. She struck out 11 in 5 innings of work.

Leading the way at the plate for the Lady Horns were Savannah Franco 2-3 with a triple, Kayla Krietsch 2-4, Hannah Iley 2-3 with 3 RBI’s. Shanna Talley, Maggie Ham, Lacey Gee, Megan Hardwick each had a hit a piece for the Lady Horns. Great defensive performances were turned in by Megan Hardwick, Veronica Gutierrez, Justine Troell and Lacey Gee.

The Lady Horns traveled to Freer to open district play this past Friday. The Lady Horns pounded the Lady Bucs by a score of 20-0 in four innings. Maggie Ham threw her seventh no-hitter of the season and she struck out 10 Lady Bucs. Offensively, the Lady Horns pounded out 14 hits. Hannah Iley was 4-4 with four RBI’s. Maggie Ham was 2-4 with two doubles, Veronica Gutierrez and Lacey Gee each had three RBI’s of the night. Kayla Krietsch and Savannah Franco each scored four runs. Megan Hardwick and Lacey Gee each had two stolen bases of the night. Great defensive performance was turned in by Justine Troell, Taylor McCumber, Maggie Ham, Lacey Gee and Kayla Wallek. With the win the Lady Horns improve their season record to 15-2 and their district record to 1-0. Great job ladies! Next district game will be Friday in Natalia.
