The McMullen County Cowgirls finished off their 2012 season by competing at the Regional Cross Country meet at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio this past weekend.

Sarita Cavazos was our highest finisher placing 59th overall.

Other team members competing were Amber Acker, Sarah White, Heather Gillen, and Mykayla Garza.

We didn’t run our best times of the year but just getting to Regionals is a great accomplishment. We have no seniors so we gained some valuable experience as far as next year.

First of all, I really appreciate these young ladies for their effort all year for their willingness to try something that most of them had never done.

I appreciate the parents who showed up to support all of our athletes. I also appreciate Mrs. Cavazos who is our High School Principal and Coach Remmers for showing up to support our Cowgirls. A big thanks to Isaac Cavazos as well who took pictures for us at the the meet.
