The McMullen County Cowgirls defeated Charlotte 48-38 to avenge an earlier home loss.

The Cowgirls were dead legged from the Charlotte tourney but give the girls credit, they made plays down the stretch to get the win. The team played well defensively in the first half and actually had a twelve point lead at one time late in the third quarter. “We got sloppy with the ball and had several turnovers in the fourth quarter which let Charlotte back in the game,” mused Taylor.

Ashley Zetzsche came off the bench and hit two big baskets late which gave the team some breathing room.

Sarita Cavazos also had a big basket late in the game which helped out as well.

Brittany Salazar from Charlotte is a really nice player and Calli Cruz did a great job of pressuring her all night. She didn’t totally shut down the Salazar kid but Calli made her work for every point.

Any win is nice but to get a road win is always a plus.

Monday, Dec. 10, the Junior High girls’ teams won both their games. The B team defeated Pleasanton 27-25 while our eighth grade team won 46-2 over Nordheim. Both groups continue to improve and play hard.

Our B team will finish with Pawnee before the Christmas break while our eighth grade team will travel to Falls City for a game.
