Yo Han Kang and Mario Rodriguez also paired up for doubles and were defeated by Karnes City’s Vaughan and Purser 0-6, 0-6. Kang and Rodriguez then faced another Karnes City team made up of Burrom and Lopez and won with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. Kang and Rodriguez claimed the 1st place consolation prize at the tournament.  In the girls’ singles division, Kathryn Davenport faced Valerie Torres (Kenedy) in her first match and lost in a tough split-set match 6-0, 2-6, 3-6. Kathryn then played Nordheim’s Destini Voelke and won in an easy 6-3, 6-1 match to claim the 3rd place medal. Elizabeth Cansino also played girls’ singles and claimed the 1st place consolation title by first losing to Nordheim’s Destini Voelke 3-6, 4-6, but then defeating Nixon-Smiley’s Adriana Ochoa 6-4, 7-5. In girls’ doubles play, Arriel Millermon and Katheryn Cansino paired up to defeat Karnes City’s Traxler and Gonzales 6-0, 6-0 and then conquered Montemayor and Sowell (Refugio) 6-0, 6-4. All of the tennis players played very well and are looking to overcome at the Orange Grove tournament on Thursday, April, 2nd and Friday, April 3rd.
