Lady Horns are 2-0 in district

The George West Lady Horns team defeated the Jourdanton Squaws by a score of 8-0. The Lady Horns are now 17-2 in the season and 2-0 in district. Maggie Ham pitched the complete game victory. She improved her season pitching record to 16-1. Maggie Ham gave up two hits and struck out 12 Squaw batters.

Offensively, the Lady Horns pounded out 12 hits. Kayla Krietsch was 4-4 on the night. She had two doubles and scored three runs for the Lady Horns. Justine Troell was 3-4. Savannah Franco was 2-4. Hannah Iley was 2-4 and Veroncia Gutierrez 1-4. Defensively, Justine Troell and Lacey Gee each had a throwing assist to bat down Squaw base runners. Great defensive games were turned in by Megan Hardwick and Shawna Talley.

The Lady Horns softball team won a hard fought district game by a score of 5-3 over the Natalia Mustangs. The Lady Horns jumped out to an early lead 2-0. Savannah Franco hit a one out double and scored on a RBI single by Lacey Gee. Lacey Gee scored on a RBI double by Maggie Ham. The Lady Horns got a single run in the third inning to make the score 3-0. Mustangs tied the game 3-3.

The Lady Horns committed several errors that led to the three unearned runs. The score stayed 3-3 until the top of the seventh. Savannah Franco got in an infield single. Savannah advanced to second base on a stolen base. Lacey Gee doubled off the fence to drive in Savannah which gave the Lady Horns the lead for good. Lacey scored the fifth Lady Horns run. Maggie Ham picked up the RBI single. Defensively, Maggie Ham struck out twelve Lady Mustangs and gave up 3 hits. Tiffany Garza pitched one inning and also struck out one Lady Mustang. The Lady Horns improved to 18-2 on the season and 3-0 in district.
