Cleda L. (McFarland) Smith, 88, of Rockport, formerly of George West, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013.

Ms. Smith was born April 30, 1924, in Wayne, Okla., to Harvey and Tennie Baugh McFarland. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Tennie McFarland; and a son, Larry Carpenter.

Survivors include a son, Bobby (Raymonde) Carpenter of San Angelo; a daughter, Barbara (Curtis) Cummings of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Baugh of Garland.

Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel in George West.

The funeral service was conducted there at 11 o’clock following visitation with Rev. Bruce Irving officiating. Burial followed in George West Cemetery.
